Jacqueline Gaudet, Mezzo-Soprano
Jacqueline Gaudet started out as a Voice Major at the University of Bridgeport. It is there where she was first exposed to the world of jazz. She then performed full time for three years as a professional lead vocalist throughout the greater New York area. In 1992, she completed her degree in Music Education from Western Connecticut State University, where she received the James Furman award for musical and academic excellence.
Since then, Jackie has performed in numerous musical theater productions throughout Connecticut and at The Egyptian Theater in Park City, Utah. She has been a singing member and soloist with the Connecticut Master Chorale, Waterbury Chorale and Connecticut Choral Society. She has worked as an on camera video and voiceover artist for various industrial films and recordings.
After teaching at several regional music studios as a private voice coach, she opened her own studio in Newtown, Jackie Gaudet's Voice Studio, where it is her joy to work with students of all ages and varying abilities on the art of singing and performing. (See studio ad in this program book.)
It has been a labor of love for Jackie to be involved with two benefit performances. In the Spring of 2002, she created, directed and produced the 9/11 benefit concert An American Picnic in which she and her students, along with other singers, musicians and visual artists, donated their time and talent with all proceeds for The Cantor Fitzgerald Company. Special thanks to Joseph Jacovino, Jr. for being the accompanist for this event. In 2013, she created a similar event A Spring Concert for New Growth for Newtown with all proceeds going towards the Newtown Police Union.
Jackie is thrilled to be reunited with the Connecticut Master Chorale and to be involved in singing such a beautiful and important Ellington work. Her performance in this concert is dedicated to Sam Philipps, a great lover of jazz, forever flying free.
